Sometimes I Just Get An Urge To Go Antiquing

Do you find inspiration from odd places? I certainly do and my love for antiquing and thrifting is no exception. Sometimes I just get an urge to go antiquing and other times I am inspired to search for a particular item that I’m collecting or that may have popped in my head for some crazy reason.

This sweet brass cat should’ve come home to join my collection. I may have to go back to get her!

I Just Get An Urge To Go Antiquing

My recent venture was quite spontaneous and was brought on due to the weather and a calendar. Yep, the weather and a calendar. Mid-week afternoons can sometimes become a restless time for me now that I am not carrying the teacher-stress (this is a good thing!). Thursday was one of those days.

The rain came on quick but was so peaceful.

A Calendar Full of Joy

It was 3:30 and I was done with my “to-do” list. The weather had become dark and cloudy so swimming was out. I walked out of our side door like I do nearly 100 times a week and our 2021 calendar caught my eye. It is a calendar that was sent to me by our investment broker. Pretty random, but I have loved this calendar.

The Antique Dealer

The Saturday Evening Post, 2021 Calendar with Norman Rockwell illustrations hangs in our garage and is probably ignored more than admired. But on this particular day, I stopped and read the description next to the illustration. You can see that it is titled, The Antique Dealer, 1934.

I Got an Urge to Go Antiquing

Without much hesitation, I decided to spend the rainy afternoon at a local antique mall. It was a perfect idea. The mall was quiet except for the loud down poor of rain that hit the metal roof. It was a little unnerving for this girl who gets a bit nervous when the weather becomes even a bit unsettled. But, it soon tapered off and I found so many wonderful treasures. Excited to share, I quickly made an Instagram Reel but knew I needed to share the actual pictures with you all.

I Take A LOT of Pictures!

Just as a side note…I do not buy everything I see and love. I just can’t. My house cannot hold it all and my family may begin to think I have a problem. Therefore, pictures have to satisfy (and I take a LOT) unless I find something I simply cannot get off my mind.

This turned out to be such a fun afternoon. I’m learning that everyone needs time alone to do what they love. I’ve never been real good at that. Maybe I just haven’t prioritized time for myself. Do you find time to do things by yourself? If not, let me encourage you to try it. I thought it was a luxury I could not afford, but boy was I wrong! Stay curious and let me know what you find next time you get an urge to go antiquing.
